Yoga!™
Yoga has changed my life
for the better in so many ways. As a natural worrier and
perfectionist, I've found that the discipline trains me to live more
fully in the present moment and to be compassionate with myself and
others. My body, mind, and spirit have all benefited profoundly from
yoga. I'd like to share its transformative powers with you.
A little about
me...
I've been
practicing yoga since the Santa Barbara Yoga Center opened in 1992,
and have enjoyed many classes with
Sarah Powers,
David Miliotis,
and Scott
Blossom—three of its premiere instructors.
I received my yoga teacher certification from the
Santa
Barbara Yoga Center in February 2004 after successfully completing a 50-hour
training intensive taught by internationally renowned yogi
Erich
Schiffmann. I continue to work toward the
200-hour
certification level at the SBYC. Some of you might remember
me from the Orcutt Yoga Center, which is resting, not dead! :)
My
philosophy about yoga...
My brand of yoga is
strongly influenced by the Ashtanga and Iyengar systems, focusing on
creating a feeling of flow through vinyasa while also attending to alignment in held
poses. I emphasize the use of yoga as a form of moving meditation,
encouraging students to explore and open their inner selves even as they
learn about and strengthen their bodies. I believe in maintaining
the roots of yoga as a creative learning process and as a way to expand our
consciousness as we move through life.
